Not part of the DOT exam, but it can be performed at the same time if it’s company-required.
A DOT exam is a simple and hassle-free three-step process that involves taking your medical history, performing the exam, and filling out all the necessary paperwork.
Due to the time needed to complete an exam, appointments are required be scheduled. This is to ensure your valuable time isn’t wasted and a dedicated time is allotted to you.
To provide an idea of your general health and family health history, you'll be asked to detail your medical history with the doctor, going through past and any current illnesses, diseases you have or run in your family, and your overall health, including a complete list of any current medications.

This portion includes all the required elements of the physical exam: blood pressure check, vision check, hearing check, reflex response, hernia check, along with a basic urinalysis that tests for sugars, proteins or blood.

The final step in the process is the paperwork. Once your medical history and exam are complete, the doctor will fill out all the necessary paperwork to process the exam results. When you leave the office, you'll get a copy of the exam, along with a laminated medical examiner’s certificate to take with you.
Note: If you need a copy of the DOT exam emailed or faxed to your company, please have the information with you.
